Tree Planting - Thursday 23rd February 2012 & Friday 9th March 2012
Tree Planting events will be held on the mornings of the above dates.
Both events will involve pupils from local schools planting trees (420 saplings including Blackthorn, Hawthorn, Hazel, Common Oak and Rowan) supplied by the Woodland Trust as part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. One of the trees originates from one of the Royal Gardens.
Pupils of Bishop Vaughan School will be in attendance on February 23rd and Bryhnyfryd School on March 9th.
Lord Mayor's invitation to Friends of Parc Llewelyn, Thursday February 9th, 2012
Lord Mayor, Ioan Richard and Lady Mayoress, Iris Richard hosted a small group of officers and committee of our Group at the Mansion House in recognition of the Group's efforts to improve the facilities at Parc Llewelyn. The Lord Mayor was very complimentary of our efforts and congratulated us on a job well done.

Breathing Life project update:-
Seating
(picnic tables and benches) have now all been installed in their designated places. Seven litter and four dog waste bins have also been positioned around the park.
Signage
-new information signage for the park is now complete. The five new signs have now all been erected at the five entrances to the park. Regretably, the new sign at the Gelli Aur entrance has recently been vandalised. The FOPL Committee would be most grateful if park users would be vigilant and report any vandalism issues by ringing 101 for the police and also advise us via the 'contact us' section on this site.
Refurbishment of the existing tennis courts into a multi-sport playing area-
Works are now complete and the facility is open. An official opening event by the Lord Mayor of Swansea took place on Saturday May 28th, 2011.
Nordic Walking:-
Nordic Walking commenced with a training session in September 2010 and was well supported by a very keen group. It is continuing at 10am every Thursday (new enthusiasts welcome -meet at community centre in park).
FOPL have been successful in securing a grant and have managed to purchase a bag of 16 sets of walking poles.
Geraldine Bevan has recently qualified as an official instructor for Nordic Walking and will be available to train any new members. Please register your interest via the `contact us`link.
Visits from Brynhyfryd Junior and Infant Schools:-
These schools visited the park during October, 2010 and we took the opportunity to distribute various promotional materials of our new website (pencils, rulers and snap bands). If any schools would like to arrange a visit, please contact us via our website.
